Building 1877 – PUAF

Building 1877 – PUAF, Northrop Grumman Newport News, Nuclear Manufacturing Facility

Heard Concrete Construction excavated, formed and placed over 3,600 yards on this project. The foundation was pile cap and grade beams averaging 3 to 6 feet thick. The slabs were reinforced and ranged from 6” to 2’ thick. This project included a slab placement of 1000 cubic yards with a shrinkage control admixture. There were two pile caps placed at finish floor each with an embedded steel plate that weighed 10,000lbs. The reinforcing steel was installed by D.T. Reed Steel.
